Periscope User Profiles

The new User Manager, which is located in the Locations Tab, allows a super user to add, remove, and edit AX users inside of periscopeconfig.  In addition, a super user can now quickly edit a Guest dashboard without needing to first change the user profile to non-guest in order for the changes to save.  To do this, click on the user whose dashboard you wish to modify and click on the “Edit Dashboard” button.  This will log you directly into the selected user’s dashboard and all changes made will be saved.

Periscope provides four user profile types:

  • Standard User – This is the default user and enables all Periscope viewlet operations, adding, deleting, configuration, etc., plus the ability for the dashboard configuration to be “persisted” to the user’s login.
  • Preferred Guest - This user can edit, add and remove viewlets but no changes are saved.  The dashboard will always return to the same state as it was when the user initially logged in.
  • Guest (read only) - This user does not have the ability to edit or remove viewlets (or save them).  The “remove” and “add” buttons are not visible.
  • Kiosk User – This is the most restricted user type and is useful for unattended kiosk operations where the user is not allowed to download, print or share information.

Chart Legend Configuration

All viewlets now have the ability to define the data displayed in the legend (name, location, or both).

Periscope Version Update Notifications

Periscope now contains an update notifier and logic to inform end users when a newer version of Periscope is available. A popup window will appear on every users screen when it is detected that the license of the running version is obsolete. An email address is provided to request support for downloading a new version (normally free). This function is not available in the Military or Offline builds of Periscope.
